Blessing Day!

What a blessing this sweet baby boy is! Austin Dale Muir was given his name and a blessing on October 10, 2010 (an easy date to remember, 10-10-10)! by his daddy, Chris in the West Bountiful 9th Ward. Grandpa Dale, Uncle Darren, Uncle Brett, Uncle Jeremy, Uncle Cory, Great-grandpa Dee, and Bishop Huggard assisted. After the meeting, we came to our house where we enjoyed lunch, being together, beautiful fall weather, and the smiles of this special little boy!

Unfortunately Grandma Debbie & Grandpa Paul missed the blessing (they were on a very well-deserved vacation in Hawaii)...We're grateful we share these beautiful grandchildren with them!

Happy 6th Birthday, Ashley!

September 26th Ashley celebrated her 6th birthday-we had cake & ice cream and opened presents and a few days later she had her "friend party". They went to see the movie Alpha & Omega. Six of my favorite things about Ashley are: Her bear hugs, the sweet way she treats her baby brother, her enthusiasm for life, she loves to cuddle, the funny stories she tells, and I love her "spunk"!

Ga-Loon!

Saturday, September 11th we held the High-Tech company party at Lagoon. It was a beautiful, sunny day-perfect temperature and a lot of fun! Jensyn & Ashley's favorite ride was The Wild Mouse. They also rode The Bat, lots of "kiddie rides", and The White Roller Coaster. Jensyn also went on Wicked and Colossus (Ashley's not quite tall enough). I got to go on The Train, Merry-go-Round, and Puff the Little Fire Dragon with Jacob! I have fond memories of going to Lagoon every summer with my family & my cousin Debby and her family, and our grandparents. We would take a yummy picnic dinner and stay until the park closed. I remember how I loved the "dancing" water fountain, the wonderful smell of petunias, all the beautiful flowers in the park, the yummy nut sundaes, and The Fun House. I would never go on the White Roller Coaster (even though my dad would always try to bribe me with money)... I still hate all roller coasters!

CHICAGO...

September 14th Darren & I joined Dale in Chicago for a few days. Dale was there for the IMTS trade show. If you've never been to downtown Chicago, you really should go! The shopping on the "Magnificent Mile" is SO fun. There's a 3 story Crate and Barrel store that is amazing. Other things I loved were: Garrett Popcorn, dinner at the Signature Room in the John Hancock Building (95th floor), going up 102 floors to the Skydeck in the Sears (now the Willis) Tower, and lunch at Frontera Grill (a 1 hour wait, but it was worth it!). Here are a few photos of things we did, and a few of my favorite things about Chicago:

The flower beds that line the streets and sidewalks on Michigan Avenue and in front of businesses! They change them according to the season-gorgeous!

Riding the Chicago Double Decker bus was a great way to see the city!

The buildings are unbelievable! Oh and I love that guy who served his mission in Chicago! He was a great tour guide...

The Architecture River Cruise was so fun & informative-if you go there, be SURE to do this!

We had fun looking at this famous painting along with many more at The Art Institute of Chicago. We lucked out because we were there on a Thursday evening when admission is free!

Lunch with Iesha & her darling baby Ireland. Darren met Iesha on his mission. She didn't join the church, but they've remained good friends...

We got to go to a White Sox game (Darren would have rather gone to a Cubs game, but they weren't in town). It's a neat ballpark (parking was a nightmare and cost $23), but we had a great time.

Proud to be an American

With the 4th of July being on Sunday this year, we didn't do our traditional breakfast and tram ride at Snowbird. Instead, we celebrated on Monday by taking the grandkids to see Toy Story 3, having a BBQ, playing with the ducks, and hot tubbing. It was a blast!

B-O-A-T-I-N-G

July 12th for FHE we decided to go boating at Pineview. We haven't used the boat yet this year and it's going to be used a lot in the near future so we decided we'd better take it out for a test run. Good thing we did-it was low on oil and wasn't running well at all. Guess we'd better get it in for a tune-up! It turned out okay though because everyone just wanted to hang out on the beach anyway. Of course on the way home we stopped at Chris' for icecream!
