CHANGE...

I really don't like CHANGE...but I guess sometimes it's inevitable and a good thing. We were very surprised when on February 10th Jerry Sloan resigned as the coach of the Utah Jazz. I always thought when Jerry retired, Phil Johnson, his assistant would take over-but Phil decided to leave with Jerry. I sometimes questioned Jerry's decisions...waiting too long to call a time-out, players lack of defense guarding the 3-point shot, and his negative demeanor talking to the media about his team (sometimes even when his team won!) Regardless of my thoughts, he was a good coach. Jazz teams won 1,127 games under his guidance and made it to the NBA Finals twice. Jerry is also a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame. So I have mixed feelings. I wish Jerry and his family the best, but I'm kind of excited for CHANGE...
Quote from the Deseret News:

"My time is up," Sloan said, "and it's time for me to move on."
"This," a teary-eyed Sloan said with a cracking voice, "is a little bit tougher than I thought it would be."
Fittingly, Sloan's longtime right-hand man, Phil Johnson, resigned with the friend he'd coached alongside in Utah for the past 22-plus years.
Former Jazz player Tyrone Corbin, who spent the past seven seasons as Sloan's assistant, was named Utah's new head coach.

On February 23rd, Deron Williams our starting point guard was traded to the New Jersey Nets-this was even more shocking to me than Jerry retiring during the middle of the season. I didn't see that CHANGE coming at all. I'm really going to miss #8, D-Will. Loved that killer cross over, game winning lay-ups and intensity. I hope D-Will does well in New Jersey and that he ends up in Dallas where he wants to be!

In the trade we received Devin Harris, Derrick Favors, 2 first round draft picks and 3 million dollars in cash.
We'll have to wait and see if the CHANGE was for the better!

I LOVE VALENTINE'S DAY!

Valentine's Day is one of my favorite holidays...I just love hearts, sugar cookies, and the colors red and pink-they make my happy! Valentine's Day has changed a lot since I was a kid-I remember going around my neighborhood delivering Valentine's to everyone (ringing the door bell and running). It seems like kids today only exchange Valentine's at school at that's it-SAD...
This year after a yummy dinner at The Grand America's Garden Cafe with my sweetheart, we delivered some Valentine's to our grandkids, then watched the movie "Sleepless in Seattle"...it's been a tradition for many years and I still LOVE that movie. Do the lights on the Empire State Building really light up like a heart on Valentine's Day??
I'm so thankful for all the people in my life that I have to LOVE...

FEBRUARY!

February: Birthdays, snow, Jazz games, Super Bowl (Packers beat the Steelers), more snow, Jerry Sloan retired from the Jazz (2-10), colds/fevers, guys went to the Monster Truck Show (2-19), church cancelled (2-20), Deron Williams TRADED to the Nets (2-23), and a "girl" trip to St. George at the end of the month to spend time with my sweet in-laws.
Nedra's 80th birthday - Mo and I went down for a few days-the weather was beautiful!
We took Nedra shopping and out to lunch and dinner for her birthday...
It snowed a ton this month-we only had sacrament meeting on Feb. 20th because it snowed 10 inches very quickly...
Ashley and Jacob took advantage of the huge snow hills in the front yard!

February 7th - Happy birthday to Shannon - coconut cream pie "cake"!
The Utah Jazz are struggling this year, but we're still super fans!

Feb. 5th - Dale & Darren got tickets on row 2 to watch one of Darren's favorite players (Kevin Durrant)...

One of the many "culprits" who have destroyed 4 pine trees in our yard!
One "FROSTY" morning. The only good thing about an inversion!
Love hanging out with this cute boy!
So glad that most of the time we're above the inversion!
One of the most beautiful sunsets EVER, anywhere!
Glad to be on the inside looking out on this blustery day!
Darren finally finished the puzzle we've been working on since the 1st of December!
Had my car detailed-it deserved it after getting me all over town in snowstorms!
